The Fifth Quadrant Ensemble
The Fifth Quadrant Collective is a very new group formed by Simon Hewitt Jones and myself. It is a group which for me has the highest flexibility ranging from just one player, out to a string orchestra and beyond. We use guest artistics from other genres as much as possible, including work with Directors and visual artistis.
One of 5Q's forthcoming projects is the Handala Project, a major chamber music project in the Middle East and the UK.
Our first year has been a lot of fun including projects such as premiering Sir John Tavener's "Towards Silence" with the Medici String Quartet, recorded by the BBC; and playing works by Imogen Holst at the Cheltenham Music Soceity accompanied by a five star review by the Guardian and a BBC music award nomination.....
All in all... an awesome ensemble who have a lot of fun!
